Galatasaray Men's Volleyball Signs Efe Mandıracı to Two-Year Contract

Galatasaray Men’s Volleyball Team has signed 24-year-old national player Efe Mandıracı to a two-year contract during a formal ceremony at RAMS Park.

The two-year agreement brings the player to his childhood club in a move that officials and the player described as a homecoming. Speaking at the introductory event, Mandıracı emphasized the personal significance of joining the squad.

Efe Mandıracı, Player, stated that he was happy to play for Galatasaray, adding that this signing would bring him one step closer to his dreams and that the fans should have no doubt they would do their absolute best, noting that it would be a very emotional signing for him as he would wear the jersey he had dreamed of in his childhood today.

Mandıracı addressed his physical condition following a recent illness acquired after returning from Italy, where he previously competed. He noted that he continues to manage lingering physical hurdles in collaboration with both club and national team physiotherapists, confirming his readiness to answer future national team call-ups. Recalling his previous aspirations, Mandıracı noted that he had won a trophy in Italy after telling club leadership he wanted to become a European champion, and now aims to secure domestic titles in the yellow-and-red jersey.

Trophy Targets and Strategic Roster Planning

Club leadership used the introduction to set uncompromising competitive expectations for the upcoming campaign. Galatasaray Vice President Mehmet Cibara detailed that the athletic department continues to adhere strictly to an institutional blueprint established in 2022 across all amateur branches. Across team sports, nine Galatasaray squads will represent Turkish sports at the Champions League and European League levels for the 2026–2027 season.

Mehmet Cibara, Vice President, stated that they were strictly following the plan made for amateur branches, especially volleyball, since 2022, noting that in team sports, nine of their teams would represent Turkish sports at the Champions League and European League levels in the 2026-2027 season, that they would win all the finals they lost in the men’s volleyball team this season, that they would win championships in the Turkish League, Turkish Cup, and Presidential Cup this year, that they had built their roster accordingly, that nobody should have any doubts in their minds, and that he predicted they would reach these goals more easily with the addition of Efe.

Board member Ömer Sarıgül echoed these expectations, characterizing Mandıracı’s arrival as a major turning point for the club’s volleyball operations and confirming that ongoing roster management involves careful cost analysis for both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Infrastructure Timelines and Ticket Pricing Strategy

Beyond immediate roster adjustments, executive leadership outlined long-term real estate and facility development schedules tied to the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex Aslantepe Vadisi project. Cibara explained that topographical challenges and site constraints mean the broader complex cannot be completed within a two-year window. Administrative offices and a new basketball arena will take priority, altering local traffic routes and venue entrances in the process.

The club targets 2028 for the completion of the basketball arena, alongside positioning itself as a top candidate for NBA Avrupa. Meanwhile, tribune renovation work shifted from basketball facilities to volleyball venues on the day of the signing.

Addressing spectator turnout, Cibara appealed directly to the fanbase for greater attendance at amateur branch fixtures, noting that despite low ticket pricing last year—including during Champions League fixtures—turnout remained sparse. The club plans to maintain highly accessible pricing structures for the upcoming season to encourage crowds.

Mehmet Cibara, Vice President, stated that although they kept prices very cheap last season, there was slightly more demand for women’s matches, whereas for the men, even during Champions League matches, few spectators came, and that to ensure fans come this year, they would not increase prices and would make them very cheap, adding that a team that has been playing in the Champions League for two years and aims to advance from the group stage in the Champions League this year now needs to attract more interest from the fans, and while they would do even more encouraging things here, if there is still no demand, the club has nothing more it can do, and he requested that the fans show the necessary interest.

He emphasized that while the club will continue to provide incentives, the ultimate responsibility lies with the supporters to show their commitment to the team.
