Galaxy S23 owners are complaining about camera focus issues

by time news

Reports from users coming from Europe and on Reddit claim that photos taken on the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus sometimes come out blurry, but not fully. At first glance the images look normal, but a closer look reveals that more distant areas are not focused and unevenly.

Some users claimed that this is generally a depth of field effect. However, instead of the object being sharp and clear and the rest of the background being blurred, we will see different images where you see a blurred area in the shape of a banana or a ring that is revealed when photographing documents and text on a screen. The problem is of course not limited to these types of images, and it seems to be a wider phenomenon.

It is believed that the problem is related to the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus camera lenses in the artificial intelligence system’s attempt to identify nearby objects and blur the background. In a normal situation the effect of depth of field is usually limited to the edges of the image, but in this case it is clearly seen that the blur appears in the outer circle around the center of the image.

We re-checked the photos we took during the review for the Galaxy S23 Ultra and there no similar problem was observed, but it is a different photo setup than the other two models. At the moment the reports are limited to users from Europe, but it is not impossible that this may also happen on phones sold in Israel, depending on the scene or environmental conditions.
