Samsung to Expand AI Ecosystem Beyond Gemini with Galaxy S26
Samsung is poised to dramatically expand the artificial intelligence capabilities of its Galaxy devices, confirming that Gemini will not be the sole AI assistant featured on the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The move signals a strategic shift towards a more open and competitive AI ecosystem for the South Korean tech giant.
The company’s plans were revealed in a recent interview with Bloomberg, where a senior Samsung official outlined the firm’s ambitions to integrate a wider range of AI features into its future smartphones. “We want to bring more AI features to our Galaxy phones in the future,” the official stated, adding that Samsung has developed an internal AI framework designed to accommodate multiple AI agents and assistants.
This framework will allow Samsung to evaluate and incorporate AI technologies from various vendors, provided they meet the company’s standards for performance and user experience. The official confirmed that Samsung is currently in discussions with several potential partners for the Galaxy S26 lineup. While the company did not name specific vendors, previous reports suggested potential investment in Perplexity, a conversational search engine, to offer an alternative to Google’s Gemini.
The decision to diversify its AI offerings comes as competition in the mobile AI space intensifies. Samsung’s approach allows for greater flexibility and innovation, potentially offering users a choice of AI assistants tailored to their individual needs. “As long as the AI agents are competitive and offer a good user experience, we are open to integrating more,” the official explained. Regarding the Exynos 2500 chip used in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the official emphasized that Samsung considers both performance and power consumption when selecting components.
