Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition: New name for Samsung’s ultra-premium foldable leaks ahead of alleged limited release

by time news

The saga of Samsung’s much-rumored alternative to the Galaxy Z Fold6 (currently $1,679.97 – 512GB on Amazon) continued. To recap, the device was originally intended as a cheaper version called Galaxy Z Fold6 FE or Galaxy Z Fold6 Fan Edition. Later, rumors shifted to a more premium option of the device, which has remained that way ever since.

That said, its name continues to be referred to by sources as the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim or Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra. According to the ever-reliable Evan Blass, neither is the final name for Samsung’s next book-style foldable. Samsung may supposedly drop any mention of a sixth-generation model altogether.

Instead, Blass claims that the device will be sold as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Presumably, this is due to its positioning as a semi-Galaxy Z Fold ‘6.5’ with a sleeker design than the current Galaxy Z Fold6. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is said to come with different camera hardware compared to its regular counterpart, among other changes. Unfortunately, Samsung is expected to release the device only in China and South Korea, at least initially.
