The Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov. He made a surprise visit to the educational institution today after a recording of a primary school teacher’s abusive language towards children was published in the media this morning. The mayor of the municipality, Rosen Dobrev, and the head of the RUO-Vratsa, Loreta Koleva, also took part in the meeting.
“What is heard in the recording is inadmissible, and that is why I immediately ordered an inspection,” stressed Prof. Tsokov. However, according to him, the actions of the parents cannot be tolerated either. That is why he arrived on the spot to talk with the teaching staff “It is important at this moment to talk not only about punishment, but also about support,” said Minister Tsokov.
“I know that the work is very difficult and sometimes you burn out in the desire to achieve the best results. However, at no time can you cross the border and treat the children rudely,” Prof. Tsokov addressed the teachers. He explained that they can count on full support from the Ministry of Education and Culture in times of difficulty, including providing of psychological and professional support. The Minister added that a new measure with a budget of nearly BGN 100,000 was launched specifically for the prevention of professional overheating among teachers. For this purpose, the program for the rehabilitation and prevention of pedagogical specialists includes activities related to overcoming professional chronic stress of teachers.
Actions have already been taken to expand CCTV throughout the school, and the accused teacher has requested that cameras be installed in her classroom as a priority to quell any future doubts about her work, the meeting revealed. For its part, the Municipality of Oryahovo will offer psychological support for the child. This has already been proposed by the school, as well as the possibility of the student being transferred to another class. However, the parents have so far refused.
The inspection of RUO continues, parallel measures will be taken at the school level.
