During an audience granted to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, on a working visit to Gambia, Mr. Barrow expressed his country’s desire to cooperate closely with Morocco with a view to achieving common objectives for a prosperous, united and stable Africa.
In this context, he highlighted the importance of supporting development and education to face current challenges.
Mr. Miraoui, for his part, indicated that his working visit to Gambia confirms the solidity of the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as it testifies to the common desire to strengthen them in priority areas of development.
In this regard, he recalled the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, which offers great opportunities for true South-South cooperation by bringing together the countries of Atlantic Africa, including Gambia, noting that it constitutes a promising framework for collaboration, particularly between the ministers of Atlantic African countries in charge of higher education, scientific research and innovation.
In this perspective and in accordance with the High Guidelines and the enlightened vision of HM the King, Mr. Miraoui underlined the importance of promoting cooperation within the African Atlantic space in view of its geostrategic scope and the significant challenges that the countries bordering the Atlantic are called upon to improve, to accelerate their growth trajectory and broaden their development prospects.
This interview took place in the presence of the charge d’affaires of the Moroccan embassy in Gambia, Ahmed Belhaj, as well as members of the delegation accompanying the minister.
