New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while launching BJP’s ‘National Membership Campaign-2024’, said that the membership campaign is not a game of numbers, it is an ideological and emotional movement. This membership campaign is not just a ritual, it is an extension of our family, it is not a game of numbers. He said that it does not matter how many numbers we get. This membership campaign is a campaign to strengthen the country and increase its strength.
Appeal to celebrate membership campaign like a festival
Urging to celebrate the membership drive like a festival, he said that the youth between the ages of 18 and 25 should be targeted and connected to the BJP. BJP workers should tell them how bad the situation was in India 10 years ago and how much their government has changed the condition of the country and what new heights it has taken the country to. The strength of the youth will help in realising the dream of a ‘developed India’ by 2047. This membership drive will break all records.
He also advised to focus more on the aspiring districts, blocks and border areas of the country regarding the membership campaign. PM Modi said that we are not just an election machine, but we are the fertilizer and water that can nourish the dreams of the countrymen. It is an insult to call BJP an election machine.
BJP is a party that follows democratic processes
PM Modi said about the difference between BJP and other political parties that today another round of membership drive is starting. From Bharatiya Jana Sangh till now, we have tried our best to bring a new political culture in the country. As long as the organisation or the political party through which the people of the country entrust power, that unit, that organisation and that party does not live the democratic values, internal democracy does not flourish in it, then a situation arises which we are seeing in many parties of the country today. BJP is the only party which is expanding its work by following completely democratic processes as per the constitution of its party and continuously keeps itself capable to live up to the hopes and aspirations of the common people.
Remembering the days of struggle
Recalling the days of struggle, he said that when I was not in politics, in the Jansangh era, workers used to paint lamps on walls with great enthusiasm, and many political party leaders used to make fun of it in their speeches that one cannot reach the corridors of power by painting lamps on walls. We are those people who painted lotus on walls with devotion, because we believed that the lotus painted on walls will someday be painted on hearts as well. Once upon a time, we were made fun of for having only two members in the Lok Sabha. The party has reached here after facing a lot of oppression.
PM Modi said that at that time, the oppressors were so intoxicated with power that they could not tolerate even a small procession. Even today, in some states, BJP workers live the same life and struggle for their ideals. It was said about our workers that one of their feet is in the train and the other is in the jail. In the train because the BJP worker used to travel continuously, migrate and fight in front of those in power to solve the problems of the society. Therefore, sometimes in jail and sometimes outside, this was his condition.
