Games for the Chief Minister’s Cup in January

Tiruvarur: The District Collector said that the games for the Chief Minister’s Cup will be held in January and February in Thiruvarur. Gayatri Krishnan said.

Presiding over the District Youth Welfare and Sports Development Committee meeting held on Wednesday regarding the conduct of the Chief Minister’s Cup games, she further informed:

Sports competitions for the Chief Minister Cup, 50 types of competitions including 42 types of district level and 8 types of regional level competitions will be held in the months of January and February in Tiruvarur District Sports Stadium in which both men and women will participate in 5 categories namely general category, school, college, differently abled and government employees.

Athletes who wish to participate must register on the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority website.

Boys and girls between 15 years to 35 years of age in Chimpanzee, Athletics, Badminton and Handball competitions, School students between 12 to 19 years of age and College students of 17 to 25 years of age participated in Kabaddi, Chimpanzee, Athletics, Basketball and Badminton at the district level. Ball, football, curve ball, swimming, handball and table tennis competitions, school students between 12 to 19 years and college students between 17 and 25 years can participate in tennis, weight lifting and beach handball competitions at regional level.

There is no age limit for disabled persons. Badminton as a team of 5 Nabs, handball as a visually impaired team (7 Nabs), curling ball as a mentally retarded team (7 Nabs) and kabaddi as a team of hearing impaired 7 Nabs.

Both male and female government employees can participate in the competitions without any age limit. The winning teams at the regional level will participate in the state level competitions.
