Several hundred thousand players are converging on Cologne until Sunday for Gamescom, the annual gathering of video games in Europe. This is the occasion to test this year’s blockbusters, despite the absence of Japanese giants Nintendo and Sony.
Fans will particularly have the opportunity to get their hands on titles like ‘Star Wars Outlaws’ from Ubisoft, scheduled for August 30, or ‘Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero’ from Bandai Namco, highly anticipated by fans of the saga, before its release on October 8.
Often at the cost of very long waiting lines.
Spread over a dozen immense halls at Koelnmesse, more than 1,400 exhibitors – including studios, publishers, and specialized shops – are gathered over more than 230,000 m².
‘After last year’s strong growth, we expect to set new records at Gamescom, with even more exhibitors and greater international participation,’ said Tim Endres, its director, in mid-July.
