Gangjin-gun was selected adn awarded as ⁣the best county in the 2024 Animal Quarantine and Hygiene Policy Evaluation. Gangjin-gun was selected ⁢as the best county and received an award in the 2024 animal quarantine hygiene ‍policy comprehensive evaluation hosted by Jeonnam Province.

Jeonnam Province has reported foot-and-mouth disease and lumpy skin disease in 22 cities and counties within the province over the past year. The evaluation ‌was conducted focusing on 18 items in a total of 4‌ areas, including the promotion ‍of⁢ quarantine measures for livestock ⁣diseases such as African swine fever and avian influenza, and livestock product hygiene management.

In this evaluation, Gangjin-gun received high evaluations in the areas of⁣ quarantine policy and quarantine response, such as the reduction rate⁤ of major livestock ⁣infectious diseases (3 ‍types) ⁤in artiodactyls and the installation and operation of base disinfection ⁤facilities and control posts.

In the field of quarantine policy, excellent results⁤ were achieved ⁤through the ⁤non-occurence of three major ‍livestock infectious diseases in artiodactyls,⁣ including bovine tuberculosis, and the rapid implementation of support projects to strengthen disease management for Korean cattle farms.

In ⁣the field of quarantine response, we actively ⁢promoted quarantine measures‌ against African swine fever, such as installing strengthened quarantine facilities at pig farms, and established⁣ a‍ system to block and quarantine livestock ⁢diseases ⁣at all times, such as ‌installing and operating building-type disinfection facilities and conducting‌ avian influenza virtual quarantine training (CPX).

Gangjin-gun has contributed greatly⁤ to protecting the property⁤ of livestock farmers and producing healthy livestock products by establishing a thorough quarantine system over the past three years, with not a single case of ⁢AI.

Gangjin County‍ Mayor Kang Jin-won said, “Winning the livestock quarantine award for two consecutive ‌years is the result of the efforts of not only related public officials, but also related organizations, livestock organizations, and livestock farms for biosecurity.” He added,“We will continue to conduct thorough quarantine management and quarantine to protect livestock farms from livestock infectious diseases.” “We will strive to maintain a clean Gangjin-gun free of livestock diseases by strengthening ‌biosecurity,” he said.

meanwhile, Gangjin-gun announced ‍on the 28th that it will run an intensive promotion period for basic living allowance for one month from December 1st to the 31st of ‍the same month.

To achieve⁣ this,‍ the county ⁢will post pop-ups on the county office website and post banners at 14 major locations within the county. Produce posters⁣ and banners and ‍distribute⁢ them to town and village offices. We plan‌ to eliminate welfare blind spots by intensively discovering and operating livelihood ⁢benefit recipients by‍ visiting 11 town and⁢ township welfare centers for promotional tours.

On the 26th, training ⁤was held in the ⁣Gangjin County‌ Office conference room‌ for town and township⁣ officials to prepare for the intensive⁤ request period, including major changes in 2025 ⁣and instructions for applying for social ‌security benefits.

For employees whose jobs changed due ⁤to new appointments or personnel appointments, case-based job training⁢ was provided from application for social security⁢ benefits to progress procedures, which received a positive response.

The military will strengthen support ⁤for low-income households in accordance with the increase in median income as of 2025. The standard median income ⁢is the median of national household income and ⁢is used as a standard for selecting the government’s 74 welfare projects,⁣ and the number of⁣ households eligible to receive benefits is expanded based on this.

The standard for selecting ‌living benefits in 2025 was increased by 7.34% from ⁢713,102 won to 765,444 won for a single-person household. For a four-person household, the price will rise by 6.42% from 1,833,572 won in 2024 to 1,951,287 won in 2025.‍ Through this, more residents benefit.

In addition, from 2025, the general property conversion rate (4.17%) will be applied to cars with a capacity of less then 2,000 cc and less than 5 million⁤ won, so that only a portion of the vehicle ⁢price needs to be calculated as income.Through this, we plan to minimize cases of ⁤elimination due to excessive automobile property⁢ standards and further expand the scope of ⁤supply and demand.

The standards for ⁢those obligated⁤ to support livelihood benefits are also relaxed. Existing annual income exceeds 130 million won or general assets exceed 1.2 ‌billion won. In order to⁢ encourage the economic activities of the elderly, the earned ‌income deduction‌ target was expanded to those aged 65⁢ or older, and additional deductions (200,000 won + 30%) were also made available to more households from 2025.

As of November, the number of recipients of basic livelihood benefits⁢ in Gangjin-gun is 1,901 people from 1,502 households, and 152 ⁤more people, ‌an ⁢8% increase, will be identified and supported with livelihood benefits.

Kang Jin-won, the governor of Gangjin County, said, “We will do our best to identify low-income and vulnerable groups so that residents in challenging situations can quickly receive welfare benefits,” and added, “We will do our best to provide better⁢ welfare ⁣services.”
