Gangjin-gun Wins Excellence Award at National Local Government Job Awards

The Gangjin-gun local government was awarded the ‘Excellence Award’ at the 2024 National Local Government Job Awards. Held at the Seoul El Tower on the 8th, the awards recognize local governments’ job creation initiatives.
The ‘National Local Government Job Awards’ assesses job creation projects implemented by local and basic local governments across Korea. This year, 243 local governments were evaluated based on criteria including the local government head’s commitment to job creation, target achievement, job announcement system effectiveness, and business performance.
Through comprehensive annual plans aligned with national and provincial government policies, the Gangjin-gun military achieved an employment rate of 76.8%, exceeding the target of 74.8% for those aged 15-64. Notably, the youth employment growth rate increased by 39.8% compared to 2022, indicating successful initiatives to diversify youth employment, encourage family business start-ups, and support regional settlement.
The Gangjin-gun government has implemented various projects to foster job creation, including the Puso Project, Byeongyeong Bulgeum Bulpa weekend festival, Youth Settlement Support Project for Succession of Family Businesses, Gangjin Premium Side Dish Industry, and Nolto Fish Market.
“Creating jobs is crucial for attracting new residents,” said Governor Gang Jin-won. “We will prioritize the creation of quality jobs to make Gangjin a desirable place for people to live and work.”
