Gangjin-gun will hold the ‘4th Gangjin Wolchulsan Picnic Day’ on October 3rd. The ‘4th Gangjin Wolchulsan Picnic Day’ event will be held in Wolchulsan, Seongjeon-myeon, Gangjin-gun from October 3rd to 5th. The main event venue is the Wolchulsan Gyeongpodae parking lot.
This event features a variety of programs designed to help families with children feel happiness in the small details of everyday life, with the Wolchulsan area boasting beautiful natural scenery and outstanding cultural resources, and a variety of fall picnic themes. In particular, compared to last year’s event, new and unique experiences for children have been added, such as the ‘Picnic Lunchbox Cooking Tour’, a character lunchbox making experience aimed at children, and the ‘National Heritage AR Activity Experience’ using metaverse augmented reality.
The ‘Picnic Lunchbox Cooking Tour’ can be applied for on-site by paying an experience fee of 5,000 won, but only those who make a reservation in advance (applications can be made through the Naver form until October 1) can experience it at a reduced price of 2,000 won. It is recommended to hurry as only 600 people in total, with a maximum of 200 people per day, can make a reservation on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, there are many experiential programs where you can feel the mood of autumn and the excitement of a picnic. Representative programs include a camp party where you can buy local specialties such as sweet potatoes, chestnuts, and beef and enjoy them for free with a barbecue zone, and programs where parents and children can experience together such as making hwajeon (Korean pancakes) and tofu, and programs that children can easily enjoy such as balloon art, soap bubbles, and traditional game experiences.
You can’t miss out on the ‘Wolchulsan Picnic Brunch’ that was also very popular at the last event. You can apply for the ‘Wolchulsan Picnic Brunch’ through Naver Form until October 1st. You can purchase a hearty brunch set (1 set/for 2 people) consisting of a mat, sandwiches, grilled rice cakes, bread, and drinks for 20,000 won. Only 300 people in total, up to 100 people per day, can make a reservation on a first-come, first-served basis, and since the quantity is limited, it may close early.
The opening ceremony on Thursday, October 3, the first day of the event, will also be filled with many things to see. The Nanta performance by the Seongjeon-myeon residents and the Darang Orchestra performance by Gangjin Central Elementary School will greatly enhance the atmosphere of the event. In particular, the Darang Orchestra is comprised of high-level members who hold regular concerts at Gangjin Art Hall in Gangjin-eup every year, and this performance will also open the festival with high-level music melodies such as various classical music and movie OSTs.
The highlight of this festival, the signature program, has also been upgraded. There is a lot of interesting content, such as a picnic lunch-making experience that the whole family can enjoy with their children, a Wolchulsan trekking experience that allows you to see the famous spots of the Wolchulsan area at a glance, a national heritage AR archery experience that combines metaverse augmented reality to hunt monsters, and a green tea tea ceremony experience with the beautiful natural scenery of Wolchulsan.
Of particular note is the ‘Pinkfong and Tuntun Teacher’s Dance Party’ performance, which is loved by children all over the world, not just in Korea. It will be held twice on Thursday, October 3rd, at 11AM and 2PM. It is a rare opportunity to see Pinkfong, who is usually only seen online on YouTube, in person, and since it is free of charge, many children are expected to come.
There are also special benefits for tourists who come to enjoy the natural scenery of Wolchulsan. After trekking or climbing Wolchulsan, you can receive a 5,000 won coupon that can be used at the festival site and local specialties (black rice, etc.).
In addition, the Muwisa Water-Land Festival, boasting 600 years of history, will be held from October 4 to October 5, and the Baekundong Exhibition Hall, designated as National Cultural Heritage Site No. 115, which contains the history of Baekundong, will officially open on October 4, and other special events are planned to accompany the event.
