Gangnam-gu continues the gratitude relay commemorating the 52nd Parents’ Day. To celebrate the 52nd Parents’ Day, Gangnam-gu (City Mayor Cho Seong-myeong), a city where dreams gather and envision the future, will hold events in six welfare centers starting with the ‘Filial Harmony’ event on April 26th until May 8th.

On the 26th, the district held an event called ‘Filial Harmony for the One and Only You in the World’ to express gratitude to the elderly. At this event, hosted by Gangnam-gu and organized by the Gangnam-gu Senior Welfare Organization Council, about 500 seniors attended and commendations were awarded to 12 people, including filial piety workers, Janghan parents, and elderly welfare workers (groups). Then, thanks and congratulations were conveyed to the seniors through lively hosting by Jo Young-gu, who served as host, and exciting performances by trot singers Na Sang-do and Kim Yong-im. Nine organizations of the Gangnam-gu Senior Welfare Institutions Association and oriental medicine volunteer groups presented various side events such as physical age measurement and visiting smart rooms.

On the 8th, the day of Parents’ Day, carnations were placed on the elderly at six senior welfare centers (▲Gangnam Senior Welfare Center ▲Nonhyeon Senior Welfare Center ▲Gangnam Senior Plaza ▲Yeoksam Senior Welfare Center ▲Apgujeong Senior Welfare Center ▲Daechi Senior Welfare Center) and a restaurant for the elderly. Special meals are provided.

Additionally, each welfare center holds its own events. Gangnam Senior Plaza will visit 65 households of vulnerable senior citizens from the 2nd to the 8th and deliver donations. Daechi Senior Welfare Center will host a celebration performance and prize drawing for 60 seniors from 14:30 to 16:00 on the 3rd. DC+DC, a welfare center line dance club, and the Gangnam Happiness Concert performance team add excitement to the event. Nonhyeon Senior Welfare Center will hold a commemorative event at Yeongdong First Church on the 8th from 11:00 to 13:00 with the support of NH Nonghyup Bank Seoul Headquarters and Yeongdong First Church. We invite 150 low-income seniors living alone to enjoy an exciting performance by a trot singer and receive souvenirs. Nonhyeon 1-dong Saemaeul Women’s Association also participates and provides a special meal of samgyetang.

Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong said, “Seniors were very happy at the event prepared with great care and respect for Parents’ Day. Going forward, we will always listen to the voices of the elderly and do our best to promote their welfare with a respect for our parents.”
