Gangnam-gu’s first play and experience facility, ‘Gangnam Children’s Center’, has opened. Gangnam-gu (Mayor Seongmyeong Cho), which draws the future as a city where dreams gather, will hold an opening ceremony for Gangnam Children’s Center (4, Eonju-ro 170-gil) on September 12 and will begin full-scale operation in October.

Gangnam Children’s Center is the first children’s play and experience facility in Gangnam-gu, which was created by actively reflecting the opinions of the local community, including families, daycare centers, schools, and parents. It is expected to serve as a base for supporting the integrated development of children by planning and providing programs that were previously difficult to operate due to spatial constraints in children’s educational institutions.

It has a total floor area of 2,830㎡ from the 1st basement floor to the 6th floor, and consists of ▲ a sports playroom on the 1st basement floor ▲ a lobby and nursing room on the 1st floor ▲ a Seoul-style kids cafe on the 2nd floor ▲ an experience playroom, a creative playroom, and a book cafe on the 3rd and 4th floors ▲ an exploration playroom on the 5th floor ▲ a Danuri room for performances and events on the 6th floor. Its users are children aged 0 to 12 and their parents.

The experiential playroom and the exploration playroom offer specialized programs that promote children’s physical activity and emotional development and build emotional bonds with their parents. ▲Play using paints to develop the five senses ▲Food therapy to improve eating habits ▲Growth plate promotion program ▲Children’s dance class ▲Traditional play experience ▲World folk instrument experience ▲Making move dolls using emotion cards ▲Color play using personal colors ▲Making family books and drawing family pictures, etc.

In particular, we operate an English Play Zone with native English teachers. The English Play Zone is a Gangnam-tailored program that reflects the needs of parents who want quality English public education. It is designed to allow infants and toddlers and elementary school grades 1 to 3 to naturally come into contact with English through various play and experiences such as art, cooking, and DIY. Through this, we expect to reduce the burden of education costs for families, and children will be able to develop English communication skills and learn English-speaking culture in a fun way.

The sports playroom operates various physical education classes, including a climbing class on an artificial rock wall, and a VR cultural exhibition experience class. The kids cafe is a space where children aged 0-6 can run around freely, and provides play care services for children aged 36 months and older. The Danuri Room provides a space for events such as puppet shows, children’s performances, and presentations, as well as large-scale parent education.

The operating hours of the program rooms (3rd to 5th floors) are Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 20:00, and Saturday, 9:00 to 18:00. The Seoul-style Kids Cafe (2nd floor) and the sports playroom (basement 1) are Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 to 18:00. Usage fees vary by experience program, and for more information, contact Gangnam Children’s Center or refer to the Gangnam Children’s Center website scheduled to open in October.

The opening ceremony will be held on September 12th from 2:00 PM to 3:20 PM in the Danuri Room on the 6th floor. On the opening day, from the basement level 1 to the 5th floor above ground, ▲climbing ▲kids cafe ▲drum circle ▲art play performance ▲English play zone ▲cookie play & therapy will be open on each floor to celebrate the opening with children, parents, and other participants.
