The Gangnam-gu Literacy Classroom, which even teaches AI, has been selected as a Ministry of Education support project for two consecutive years. Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Seong-myeong Cho), a city where dreams gather and envision the future, was selected for the ‘2024 Adult Literacy Education Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Education for two consecutive years. Accordingly, we plan to obtain 21 million won in government subsidy and specialize in operating the ‘Gangnamae Future Literacy Class’.

Since last year, the district has expanded literacy education beyond the ability to simply read and write to the concept of understanding information in various fields of modern society and planned it as a lifelong education course. A total of 185 people participated in the training, which was divided into a basic literacy class and a digital literacy class, and was well received by the participants. In recognition of these achievements and this year’s education plan, it was selected again for the support project. In particular, among the seven lifelong education institutions directly managed by autonomous districts in Seoul, it was the only one to be selected in both basic literacy education and digital literacy education.

Basic literacy education is operated in four programs. Korean literacy education for multicultural learners will be provided as basic education, and basic English classes that can be used in daily life will be further strengthened, as will the economics and real estate fields that were popular among residents last year.

The digital literacy education class offers basic smartphone classes and advanced courses to learn video production such as daily vlogs and shorts. In addition, we plan to meet the learning needs of residents by opening new courses using AI and Chat GPT, which are hot topics this year. The ‘Digital Literacy Education Professional Instructor Qualification Acquisition’ course, which allows lecturers to teach to the digitally underprivileged, is divided into basic and advanced classes, and the course does not end with simply acquiring a certificate, but allows students to use the actual certificate to lead to teaching activities, etc. We plan to support

Gangnamae Future Literacy Class is operated free of charge for Gangnam-gu residents aged 55 or older. Classes are divided into the first half of this year (June to August) and the second half of the year (September to November). For more information, you can check the Gangnam Lifelong Learning website and apply for classes.

Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong said, “By being selected for a national support project for two consecutive years, we have been able to continuously plan and operate Gangnam-gu’s own literacy education that reflects the needs of residents,” and added, “We will continue to provide various educational programs that will help residents envision a new future.” “We will continue to operate it,” he said.
