Gangnam-gu provides 200 million won in interest on monthly rent deposit loans to newlyweds and young people. Gangnam-gu (district mayor Seong-myeong Cho), a city where dreams come together and envisions the future, is recruiting applicants for a 200 million won deposit loan interest support project for newlyweds and young people from May 1 to 31.
This project aims to alleviate the financial burden of many young people and newlyweds living in Gangnam-gu, where housing costs are higher than in other districts. Newlyweds can deposit a deposit of up to KRW 150 million up to KRW 1.5 million per year, and for young people, a deposit of KRW 100 million. This is a project that provides support of up to 1 million won per year. It received great response from residents as a measure to provide relief to niche groups, such as newlyweds with annual income exceeding 97 million won and young people with annual income exceeding 40 million won, who were excluded from the income criteria of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s monthly rent loan interest support project, and last year, the total 161.2 million won was provided to 164 households.
Over the past year, the district has improved the selection criteria to resolve issues with blind spots in support during the implementation process. The Seoul Metropolitan Government’s support project provides support of less than 700 million won (newlyweds) and 300 million won (young people) based on the housing deposit. The Gangnam-gu support project is based on housing area and supports houses under 85㎡ (newlyweds) and 60㎡ (young people). The deposit standard was added this time as there were cases among the young generation that exceeded the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s income standards and were unable to support because the deposit was less than 300 million won but the house area exceeded 60㎡. It is expected that the number of beneficiaries will increase as applicants can choose criteria that are advantageous to them among housing area and deposit criteria.
Those eligible for support are ▲ newlyweds who have registered as residents in Gangnam-gu within 7 years from the date of marriage registration as of the announcement date ▲ both spouses must be homeless ▲ the couple’s combined annual income is KRW 97 million to KRW 120 million ▲ residential house or residential officetel (exclusive area or contract area) This is a household for which the applicant (or spouse) has entered into a lease agreement for an area of less than 85㎡ or a deposit of less than KRW 700 million.
In the case of young people, ▲ a single resident registered as a resident in Gangnam-gu between the ages of 19 and 39 ▲ a non-homeowner with an annual income of KRW 40 million to KRW 60 million ▲ a residential house or residential officetel (exclusive area or contract area of 60 m2 or less) as of the date of announcement This is a household for which the applicant signed a lease contract for a deposit of 300 million won or less.
The district plans to prioritize new applicants this year and give later priority to those who apply for extensions from the previous year. If the number of applicants exceeds the budget, a point distribution table is used to calculate the number of applicants for support. The application period is up to three years, and qualifications are reviewed every year. The support fund is scheduled to be paid in June after document submission and review. For further inquiries, please contact the housing department at the district office.
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong said, “We hope that this will help newlyweds and young people who are struggling due to the high cost of housing in Gangnam-gu to stabilize their housing and build a foundation for independence,” and added, “We will not spare any policy support that young people can actually feel in the future.” .
