Gangnam-gu is holding a ‘Green Social’ market with social economy enterprises. Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Seong-myeong Cho), a city where dreams gather and envision the future, will hold the ‘Social Economy Green Social Market’ in the lobby of the first floor of the district office from 10:00 to 16:00 on April 23-24.
Social economy enterprises are enterprises that engage in economic activities while contributing to solving social problems, such as providing services or jobs to vulnerable groups, and include social enterprises, cooperatives, village enterprises, and self-reliance enterprises. The district, which consistently holds markets to promote social economy enterprises and support sales channels, planned a ‘Green Social’ market this year with companies pursuing eco-friendly values.
The event consisted of a variety of programs including sales, experiences, events, and performances. The sales booth will showcase upcycling products using recycled products and products using environmentally friendly materials. ▲Hand in Hand Co., Ltd. (scarves, alpaca dolls) ▲Jai Crafts (mother-of-pearl crafts) ▲Needle Jeans (jeans upcycling bag) ▲Korea Flower Tea Cooperative (marigold flower tea) ▲Nakkwa Yusu (apple juice) ▲Mimi Flower Shop (earthen pot) ▲ Eight companies, including Kinder Jam (Eco Bag) and ▲Hello Store (Zero Waste Shop), are participating.
For upcycling experience events, Hello Store prepared solid air fresheners on the 23rd and coffee waste keyrings on the 24th. We also created a refill station booth where people could bring detergent if they brought an empty container. As a pre-event prior to the main event, the district provided a crafting experience ticket to those who brought 10 or more cleanly washed milk cartons and sterilized cartons to the recycling bin provided at the district office from the 15th to the 19th.
In addition, a warm healing experience was prepared for visitors. ▲Maeum Pharmacy provides tarot consultations, and ▲Onki, an incorporated association, operates the Onki Mailbox, where you can anonymously write down your worries and drop them into the mailbox, and a handwritten letter will be replied to. During lunch hours, jazz and classical performances are held to provide healing in everyday life.
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong said, “As we approach the era of carbon neutrality, pursuing eco-friendly values has become a necessity rather than an option.” He added, “We will support various promotional events so that social economy companies that create the value of sustainable growth can become widely known.” He said.
