Gangnam-gu specializes in ecology and forestry programs. Starting this year, Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Cho Seong-myeong), a city where dreams gather and envisioning the future, will hire professional staff to integrate the Yangjaecheon Ecological Program and the Daemosan Mountain Forest Program, which were previously operated separately. Through this, we plan to operate it more effectively as a program that brings people closer to nature in the city.

Yangjaecheon (3.75km) and Daemosan Mountain (293m) are natural attractions in Gangnam where many residents enjoy leisure activities and exercise. The district operates an ecology and forestry program utilizing this natural space, and last year, 36,394 people (13,767 ecology and 22,627 foresters) participated. In order to further specialize these programs, which are popular among residents, the district plans to discover new programs while integrating them with program planning experts. In addition, we use ecological coordinators, children’s forest instructors, and forest interpreters to segment education targets and provide customized education.

Ecological education operates a total of 10 programs. ▲A ‘live playground’ where you can observe and experience the ecology of Yangjae Stream for each age group! Yangjaecheon’ and ‘Yangjaecheon Green Exploration Team’ ▲’Yangjaecheon Environmental Class’ focusing on lectures and field trips to utilize the restoration value of natural rivers ▲’Happy Talk Talk’ where you can visit the ecological learning exhibition hall, take insect rubbings, and experience wetlands! ‘Green Exploration Team’ ▲We operate a ‘Little Farmer School’ to learn about the growth process of rice. These five Yangjae Stream ecological programs are all excellent programs certified by the Ministry of Environment. In addition, focusing on Segok Stream and the park, ▲Segok Exploration Team ▲Segok Playground ▲Segok Stream Environmental Class ▲Play in the Park ▲Village Forest Ecological Exploration will be held.

Forest education is held at three locations: Daemosan Mountain (436-6, Ilwon-dong) and Haechansol (San 48-16, Jagok-dong) Children’s Forest Experience Center, and the Daemosan area (Jarak-gil, Wild Flower Garden, and Dule-gil). Depending on the class location, it is divided into a children’s forest classroom and a forest interpretation classroom, and a total of 7 programs are operated. This year, for the first time, the Children’s Forest Experience Center, a program linked to institutions such as daycare centers and kindergartens, has established and operates a social group where children with disabilities and non-disabled children can mingle together. The Daemosan Forest Interpretation Classroom further divided the target audience. It has been diversified into ▲visiting forest interpretation ▲for middle and high school students ▲for socially underprivileged people (elderly, underprivileged, etc.) ▲patting programs for office workers such as emotional workers.

Anyone wishing to participate in the program must make a reservation on the public reservation service website. Reservations open from the 10th of every month, and programs for the following month are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The district plans to hold special events in the future, such as Yangjaecheon Rice Planting (May), Autumn Harvesting (September), and Children’s Forest Family Festival (September-October), where you can experience nature changing with the seasons.

Seong-myeong Cho, mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “Through high-quality ecology and forestry education, we hope that people will get to know the beautiful Yangjaecheon Stream and Daemosan Mountain better and have affection and pride in them,” adding, “We will expand various programs to allow people to enjoy nature in the city in a unique way in the future.” revealed.
