Italian Filippo Ganna won the 10th stage of the Tour of Spain on Tuesday, a 25.8 km time trial around Valladolid, while American Sepp Kuss kept his red leader’s jersey.

Filippo Ganna, from the Ineos team, who was one of the big favorites for the stage, was impressive by completing the course in 27 min 39 at an average speed of 57.3 km/h, ahead of the Belgian Remco Evenepoel de la Soudal -Quick Step of sixteen seconds.

The leader in the general classification, Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma), far from being a time trial specialist, finished in thirteenth place 1 min 29 behind the winner of the day but still kept the red jersey of leader.

The Belgian world champion in the specialty, Remco Evenepoel, took twenty seconds from Roglic and climbed to third place in the general classification, 1 min 09 behind Sepp Kuss.

Triple winner of the Vuelta and teammate of Kuss, the Slovenian Pimoz Roglic is fourth in the general classification, now 27 seconds behind Evenepoel.

The Spaniard Marc Soler meanwhile finished eighth in the day’s stage and retains his place as runner-up in the general classification. Frenchman Lenny Martinez, who was third in this Tour of Spain before the time trial, gave up two and a half minutes and fell to fifth place.
