Under the motto “+ than mobility”, and with the presence of more than a thousand professionals from the automotive sector, the National Association of Vehicle Sellers and Repairers (GANVAM) has analyzed the present and future of vehicle sales and distribution in the third edition of eXpo Ganvam, held in Ifema (Madrid).

The plenary session included important international personalities. During his speech at the plenary meeting, the president of GANVAM, Raúl Palacios, referred to the government’s aid for access to electric vehicles, highlighting the need for the Government to implement “park rejuvenation plans that facilitate the access of citizens to zero mobility and low emissions” and “do not repeat the mistakes of past Renoves.”

He explained that the strategy should help make it more profitable to hand over a car that is more than ten years old to be scrapped than to sell it on the second-hand market; include support for used equipment up to five years old and for all cutting-edge technologies to create a climate of complicity with citizens that dissipates technological uncertainty.

Finally, the president of Ganvam recalled that “for mobility to be truly sustainable, it must not only comply with the environment but also guarantee social and economic development.” For this reason, “decarbonization policies must guarantee access of all incomes to efficient mobility solutions,” Palacios added.

Connected vehicle

The management of connected vehicle data has been one of the topics addressed during the third edition of eXpo GANVAM, which has addressed the different business models that will be key for vehicle distributors in Spain to become mobility distributors.

MEP Pilar del Castillo, member of the Industry, Research and Energy Commission of the European Union (ITRE), has addressed in detail the new European regulation on data management (DATA ACT). During her speech, the legislator announced that “the European Commission has committed to present before the end of this year 2023 a proposal on the DATA ACT for the automotive sector, which will mean greater legal certainty for all actors. as well as a leap in innovation and competitiveness in European industry.

Del Castillo, with whom GANVAM has worked closely on updating the regulations on access to the data generated by the connected vehicle, has assured that this law, the final text of which will be known in the coming weeks, will allow “after-sales service providers improve and innovate their services and compete on equal terms with the services offered by vehicle manufacturers”, which will mean that “users will be able to opt for a cheaper repair and maintenance provider, for example, and benefit from lower prices. smaller within that market.

The journalist and former Secretary of State for Communication, Miguel Ángel Oliver, has been in charge of hosting the current affairs magazine “eXpo GANVAM en vivo”, the new television format of the plenary session of eXpo GANVAM inspired by the popular ‘late nights’ , which Vincent Carré, the ideologue of social renting in France, has also passed through.

Carré explained how this initiative could be key to achieving the transition towards affordable electric mobility, by allowing the entire population to access zero-emission mobility. In addition, he has highlighted the role of second-hand vehicles as a lever to further reduce monthly rental payments to 100 euros per month with a contract lasting 7 years.

During his speech at eXpo GANVAM, the ideologue of this social renting has assured that, for this type of initiatives to be viable and can be applied in countries like Spain, government support is necessary through aid for the acquisition of electric cars. .
