Gapyeong-gun (Governor Seo Tae-won) will open a new chapter in local culture with the ‘Preview Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ starting this year. The first performance will be the first stage of the ‘Preview Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ at the parking lot in front of the Seorak-myeon Administrative Welfare Center at 6 PM on the 13th.
Gapyeong-gun, which has been hosting jazz festivals divided into the private and public sectors since this year, is making a new attempt to strengthen the public nature and increase solidarity with the local community by dividing it into the private sector ‘Jarasum Jazz Festival’ and the public sector ‘Jazz Festival in Gapyeong.’
‘Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ is a festival hosted directly by Gapyeong-gun, and focuses on strengthening the cultural foundation of Gapyeong-gun and promoting jazz culture to local residents. In particular, Gapyeong-gun plans to hold a ‘Preview Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ before the ‘Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ to introduce the charm of jazz to residents in advance and increase interest and anticipation for the event.
Every year, we plan to select a partner township among the six towns and townships in the jurisdiction to hold the ‘Preview Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’. This year, the first performance will be held on the 13th at 6 PM in the parking lot in front of the Seorak-myeon Administrative Welfare Center.
On this day, the ‘Preview Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ will feature performances by ‘Richman and Groovenice’, who showcase the power of K-blues, and the harmonica legend ‘Jeon Je-deok Band’. The performances are free of charge and will be held in conjunction with the Seorak Song Festival, so it will be an event where you can enjoy performances of various genres, not just jazz.
A Gapyeong County official said, “Through this ‘Preview Jazz Festival in Gapyeong,’ we will do our best to strengthen the connection with the local community and help Gapyeong grow into a center of jazz culture.”
