Star Trek made him famous among science fiction fans: US actor Gary Graham is dead. He died on Monday at the age of 73, his ex-wife Susan Lavelle announced. His now wife, Becky, was at his side, she said.

Graham played the Vulcan ambassador Soval in a total of twelve episodes of “Star Trek: Enterprise” from 2001 to 2005. He previously starred in the series “Alien Nation” in the 80s.

His ex-wife wrote in an emotional Facebook post: “Gary was funny, had a sarcastic sense of humor. He fought for what he believed in, was a devout Christian and was very proud of his daughter Haylee. This was so sudden, so please pray for our daughter as she grieves. Fly high in the sky, Gar!”

Many Trekkies – as “Star Trek” fans call themselves – said goodbye to the actor online. One of them wrote: “Gary Graham left us far too soon. His outstandingly played Vulcan ambassador Soval is one of the narrative highlights of what, in retrospect, is an extremely deserving Star Trek series.”
