New Delhi: Pakistan’s white-ball (limited overs format) head coach Gary Kirsten will oversee the Champions Cup domestic one-day competition in which all contracted players have been asked to play. Kirsten will be assisted by physiotherapist Cliff Deacon and strength coach Drex Simon to check the performance and fitness of the players ahead of Pakistan’s white-ball matches this season. The trio will also conduct fitness tests for the Test team and other international players.

Test format head coach Jason Gillespie and high performance coach Tim Nielsen will leave for Australia on Wednesday after the conclusion of the series against Bangladesh, where the home team suffered a humiliating 0-2 defeat. After the domestic Champions Cup, Pakistan will play a Test series against England starting October 7.

This Test series is part of the World Test Championship and for this Gillespie and Nielsen will return home. A reliable source in the PCB said that despite the disappointing defeat against Bangladesh, there will be no major changes in the Pakistan team as Kirsten and Gillespie have been given complete freedom in selection and other matters related to the team. The source said, ‘The head coaches of both formats have advised the PCB to be patient and said that harsh decisions should be avoided based on the team’s poor form.’

Bangladesh won the second test by 6 wickets

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by six wickets on Tuesday in the second and final cricket test and registered a historic 2-0 win. Bangladesh needed 143 runs on the last day and had ten wickets in hand. Bangladesh achieved the target by losing four wickets and the winning four was hit by Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh has won a bilateral test series on foreign soil for only the second time in which two or more tests have been played. Earlier, it had won in West Indies in 2009. Bangladesh won the first test by ten wickets and the second test in four days as the first day was washed out due to rain. Bangladesh scored 185 runs for four wickets in the second innings.
