If in July Estonian gas sellers said that gas prices were falling and would continue to fall, now both Alexela and Eesti Gaas are saying that prices for this type of fuel will rise in the autumn-winter period. However, they will not reach the peak values typical for the autumn of last year, writes DELFI.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the price of natural gas on the TTF gas exchange in the Netherlands was 36.4 euros per megawatt-hour, while a month ago it was just under 30 euros per megawatt-hour, news portal ERR.ee reported.

“Rising prices are already on the horizon. But for the time being, prices remain favorable, and we recommend that residential consumers start fixing the price of gas before the start of the heating season in order to have a stable budget in the autumn-winter period,” said Calvi Nyu, energy manager at Alexela.

Gas futures prices continue to show that prices in the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next year will be higher than summer prices, Nyu said.

He added that accurate forecasting is not possible, as the market can be unpredictable, and exchange pricing is often influenced by various news.
