Gas reserves in European underground storage facilities (UGS) have exceeded 79.5%, but are lagging behind the record levels of 2020, when UGS facilities were filled to 82.5%. Gas is traded on the European exchange at a price of about $350 per 1,000 cubic meters. Gazprom supplies gas to Europe via Ukraine in the amount of 42.4 million cubic meters per day through the Sudzha gas metering station (GMS), Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
“Gazprom” supplies Russian gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side through the GIS “Sudzha” – 42.4 million cubic meters as of July 10. The application for the GIS “Sokhranovka” was rejected,” a representative of “Gazprom” told journalists. Earlier, the “Operator of the Gas Transmission System of Ukraine” (OGTSU) confirmed the application for pumping such a volume.
The previous day, the pumping volume also amounted to 42.4 million cubic meters.
The transit line through Ukraine remains the only route for Russian gas supplies to Western and Central Europe after the destruction of Nord Stream. Russian gas supplies have been going through Ukraine in reduced volumes since May 2022, when OGTSU announced the termination of transit to Europe through the Sokhranovka station due to force majeure: the company allegedly cannot exercise control over the Novopskov compressor station in the LPR. However, the Russian gas holding saw no reason to stop pumping in the previous mode.
