Berlin – The good news first: Germany has more gas storage facilities than almost any other country. A total of 23 billion cubic meters of gas can be stored in the nation’s silos. This puts Germany in fourth place in the world ranking of storage capacities after the USA, Ukraine and Russia and at the same time has a quarter of the capacities of the entire EU. But it is also a fact: The fill levels of the tanks are currently lower than they have been in years. “They are currently less than 70 percent,” says a spokesman for the Federal Association of Energy and Water Management. However, bottlenecks are not to be expected.
