by time news

Filling up the gas tank this Easter is one 2.5% more expensive than last year, according to data from the Petroleum Bulletin of the European Union. On average, a liter of petrol in the State costs 1.63 euros per liter, while during last year’s holidays – which were a little later, between April 10 and 17 – it marked 1.59 euros per liter, bearing in mind that at that time a discount of 20 cents a litre. So, filling an average tank of 55 liters this year costs 89.7 euros, while a year ago it cost 87.5 euros. On the other hand, in the case of diesel, the price has down 5.3%. In both cases the prices are found away from the highs of the summer holidayswhen two euros per liter were exceeded.

Specifically, this year diesel costs 1,529 euros per litre, while during the Easter holidays last year it went up to 1,613 euros (1,813 without taking into account the discount applied by the Spanish government). Therefore, filling a 55 liter tank this year costs around 84 euros, while a year ago it was worth 88.7 euros.

The discount of 20 cents per liter of fuel was started by the Spanish government for fight price escalation who registered the fuels in the wake of the war in Ukraine. The aid, however, did not prevent prices from hitting the ceiling during the summer and climbing to more than two euros per litre. The global bonus was eliminated for this 2023 and the executive of Pedro Sánchez justified it by the “price drop” that fuel had registered. Until last March 31, professional transport still maintained a discount of 10 cents per litre.

The Petrol Bulletin of the European Union calculates prices based on data from more than 11,400 service stations throughout the State.
