The French won this Thursday in the first round at the Masters 1000 in Miami against the Australian O’Connell.
Richard Gasquet, 40th in the world, qualified for the second round of the Miami Masters 1000, beating Australian Christopher O’Connell 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 on Thursday in Florida.
The 36-year-old Frenchman, semi-finalist of the event in 2013, will have a lot to do next against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, 3rd in the world.

Despite the loss of the 2nd set, when his opponent was more enterprising without the exchanges, he was the most consistent on the court, committing only 8 unforced errors against 26. Winner in Auckland at the very start of the year, Gasquet was the most realistic, converting three of the five break points he got, when O’Connell managed to do so only once in five opportunities.
