A patient admitted to Luton and Dunstable University Hospital in Bedfordshire, county of eastern England, died of Lassa fever, a disease caused by an Ebola-like virus. This was confirmed by the same hospital-university structure, according to reports from ‘Sky news’, after the United Kingdom’s Health Security Agency (Ukhsa) had announced in recent days three cases of infection.

All three patients, including the deceased, are members of the same family and are believed to have contracted the disease after recently traveling to West Africa. Ukhsa is seeking close contacts from those infected to provide evaluation, support and advice.
