Publishing 03 October 2024
Maurizio Molinari has yet to collaborate with the newspaper Largo Fochetti as a commentator and editors. Usigrai: «Melonian Rai 2.0 is losing pieces». The Cdr of Tg3: “Our newspaper must not be sold as a marketing chip in a bad land development plan”.
John Elkann leaves the presidency of Gedi, and remains its shareholder through Exor. In his place, the Board of Directors of the publishing group, which met in Turin on Thursday 3 October 2024, appointed Maurizio Scanavino as president of the company and Gabriele Comuzzo as CEO.
There is also a change at the top of the management of Repubblica, where Mario Orfeo arrives, leaving Tg3 and accepting Maurizio Molinari from Monday 7 October. Molinari will continue to collaborate with the newspaper Largo Fochetti in the role of commentator and editor.
«Gedi Group renews its top management and opens a new phase focused on accelerating digital transformation and improving economic results through strict corporate management», we read in the official company note.
The reorganization at Gedi-Repubblica comes a few days after the protest of the editorial staff of the newspaper who went on strike for two days, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 September, against «the serious interference in journalistic activity by the publisher, the attributable companies. and other private entities that took place during the Italian Technology Week event”.
Usigrai: «Melonian Rai 2.0 loses Mario Orfeo who leaves to lead the Republic. With the subdivision we are destined to lose pieces and put in patches.”
The Melonian Rai 2.0, with its newly installed bosses, also loses Mario Orfeo. The director of Tg3 leaves to go and directs Repubblica. His own choice, certainly, but without a doubt a loss for Rai where Orfeo, as well as directing Tg2, Tg1, the Insight Department and Tg3 over time, was also Director General.
Abandonment, that is Orfeo, to be attributed to the logic of subdivision that characterizes Rai controlled by governments and parties.
Without reform, discussion of public service information and the company’s industrial options, we are destined to lose pieces and get things sorted. A system that won’t take us long.
Executive Usigrai
Cdr Tg3. «The newspaper must be sold as a marketing chip in the Rai subdivision»
The Cdr of Tg3 « thanks the director Mario Orfeo for his commitment and passion over these years and we wish him every success in his new role at the newspaper La Repubblica. With him gone, Rai loses another well-known professional.”
«We ask the top management of the company to find out as soon as possible what will be the future of Tg3 – emphasis on the editorial committee in a note – and we expect that the choice of the new direction will be guided by the criterion of maximum professionalism and authority, characteristics which is necessary to lead a news program with a strong recognized tradition in the country.”
“We do not want our newspaper to be sold as a marketing ploy in Rai’s evil development plan. Tg3 must remain, as it has been for all these years, a free and critical voice. The next management must guarantee and protect the newspaper, without distorting its identity.” (Laigh)
