GeForce RTX 4090 shows performance up to 4 times faster than its predecessor

During the official announcement of Nvidia’s new RTX 40 series, the manufacturer promised that these are cards that will present a huge leap in performance for gamers, but did not give more details. Now the official performance data that Nvidia measured using development versions of the RTX 4090 is published, and these certainly indicate impressive capabilities.

Nvidia divides the tests into two categories: “today’s games” and “future games”. The purpose of the division is clear: the more effects the game contains that utilize DLSS 3 and Ray Tracing technology, the greater the gap between the new RTX series and its predecessors. For example, among the “games of the day” that Nvidia mentions is Microsoft Flight Simulator with a rate of 102 frames per second, the racing game F1 22 with 204 frames, and Warhammer 40,00 Darktide with 138 frames. In all these cases, the improvement compared to the company’s existing cards is about double.

However, looking at the “games of the future”, those that rely on much more advanced effects, the gap increases. Cyberpunk 2077 with the “Max RT” update, for example, reaches 90 frames per second, while the current generation cards have a rate of no more than 20. A similar jump is also registered with Justice and Portal RTX, as well as a graphics demo developed by the company itself called Nvidia Racer.

All these numbers were measured with a fairly powerful system based on an Intel i9 12900K processor with 32 GB of RAM, and the Windows 11 operating system. The RTX 4090 is expected to hit store shelves early next month.
