Geiner Moreno’s ⁤Olympic Journey Ends ​in Qualifying Round

The 24-year-old Colombian athlete Geiner Moreno’s journey at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games came to an end in the qualifying round of the triple jump on Wednesday, August 7th. Despite his⁢ best effort, Moreno failed to advance to the⁢ final.

Moreno started his qualifying with a jump of 16.32 meters ⁢in his first attempt in Group B. He followed that up with‌ a 15.22-meter jump and ended ​with his best mark of 16.40 meters. Despite his ‌solid performance, ⁣Moreno finished second to last in his group and 23rd overall among the‌ 32 competitors.

Among those who advanced to ‍the final were Portuguese Pedro‍ Pichardo, who topped the qualifying with a remarkable 17.44-meter jump, as well as Spaniard Jordan Alejandro Díaz, American Salif Manek,‍ Burkinese Hugues⁤ Fabrice Zango, and‌ Brazilian Almir​ dos‌ Santos.

The men’s‍ triple jump final will take place on Friday,⁣ August 9th, at ‍1:13 p.m. ‍(Colombian time) at the Stade de France. Moreno, unfortunately,⁢ will not be among ⁢the finalists.
