Gene Simmons Reunites with Kiss Bandmates at Harley-Davidson Love Ride, Honors Ace frehley

On Sunday,Gene Simmons shared the stage with fellow Kiss musicians Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer at the Harley-Davidson love Ride in Castaic,California.

Simmons, leading his Gene Simmons Band, delivered an 11-song setlist largely comprised of classic Kiss anthems. The performance took on added importance with the surprise appearances of Thayer and Singer. thayer joined the group on guitar for the final three songs – “Let Me Go, Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Calling Dr. Love,” and the ever-popular “Rock and Roll All Nite” – while Singer provided the driving beat behind the drums for “Let Me Go, Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Calling Dr. Love.”

A Tribute to Ace Frehley
The set included a particularly moving moment with a cover of Van Halen’s “House of Pain,” a song that Van Halen originally demoed with guidance from Simmons prior to their breakthrough album. Simmons also dedicated a performance of “Cold Gin” to the memory of original kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley, who passed away last month.
“That one’s for you, buddy,” Simmons stated following the song. “It’s heartbreaking that he’s not here to see your lovely faces and how much you like his song.”
Future Collaborations: kiss Kruise: Land-locked in Vegas
This reunion comes after the band officially concluded their “End of the Road” farewell tour on December 2, 2023. Though,fans will have another opportunity to see all four members – Simmons,Paul Stanley,Thayer,and Singer – together this weekend at the Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas. The event promises unmasked electric and acoustic sets from the rockers, offering a unique and intimate experience for attendees.
The lineup also features a diverse range of artists, including Sebastian Bach, Steering Wheel’s Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini, Quiet Riot, and former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick. Stanley emphasized the event’s accessibility in a promotional video, stating, “The cool thing is, you don’t need a ship. We’ve got everything that you get on a Kiss Kruise. We’ve got othre bands playing. We’re doing a full set … we’ll be playing all the songs you wanna hear.”
