Finally, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is installed in France in each sector, but we will have to redouble our efforts. This could be summed up in the 2022 report of the High Council for Climate (HCC), the independent body created in 2018 by Emmanuel Macron to assess public policies in the fight against climate change. There was certainly a rebound in emissions of 6.4% in 2021 compared to 2020 (to 418 million tonnes of CO equivalent2, taking into account the impact of other gases, such as methane) no doubt because of the economic recovery linked to the lifting of the constraints imposed by Covid-19. But “Greenhouse gas emissions last year still remain 3.8% below their 2019 levels”welcomes climatologist Corinne Le Quéré, president of the HCC.
