American auto giant General Motors said it is recalling over 73,000 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles from the United States and Canada due to defects that, on rare occasions, could lead to battery fires.
The corporation explained that they are recalling more than 9,000 cars in 2019, as well as over 63,600 models for 2020-2022, including the Bolt EUV electric crossover.
GM will spend about $ 1 billion on recalling cars and replacing defective batteries; the corporation intends to demand reimbursement of these expenses from their supplier, LG. In July, the company recalled 69,000 vehicles after first reports of fire incidents, and sales of the Chevrolet Bolt were suspended.
