In June 2006 he was transferred to the Higher War School as Head of the Strategy and Leadership Department, and as of December 1 he formed the group of students of the Higher Military Studies Course for promotion to Brigadier General. With the new rank he was named Director of Army Intelligence.
Díaz also participated in “Operation Jaque” in 2008, in which several kidnapped people by the FARC were rescued.
Since then, the general held several management positions in different military units in the country. During his stay in the ranks he obtained around 50 national, foreign and civil decorations.
