Mohamed Salem Essabti and Lahoucine Chaynane, president of the Chamber of Agriculture of Marrakech-Safi, elected officials, as well as a large delegation of ministry officials, took note of the progress of provincial agricultural plans of Youssoufia and Safi, which are part of the Generation Green strategy, and has launched solidarity agriculture projects in these two provinces.

At the level of the Jnane Bouih territorial commune falling within the province of Youssoufia, Mr. Sadiki launched work to plant 200 ha of caper trees and 80 ha of cacti as part of the first tranche of a construction project. solidarity agriculture for the development of production systems resilient to climate change.

With a total cost of MAD 18.2 million, this project to diversify production systems concerns the two territorial communes of Jnane Bouih and Jdour. It focuses on speculations that are resilient to climate change, and concerns in particular the planting of 1,000 ha of caper trees, 400 ha of new varieties of cacti resistant to carmine cochineal and 300 ha of forage shrubs (Atriplex).

The project also aims to develop direct seeding through the creation of a cooperative and its provision of the necessary equipment.

The approach to diversifying production systems on which the project is based provides for actions to develop animal sectors, through the creation of hydroponic barley production units, the development of beldi chicken breeding for the benefit of rural woman and the distribution of 500 beehives, in addition to other actions to promote self-employment of young people.

The project will contribute to the diversification of sources of income for 825 small farmers, including nearly 200 young people and 230 rural women, and will enable the creation of around 200,000 days of work per year.

Subsequently, the minister went to the Atouabet territorial commune of the Safi Province where he kicked off the planting of 100 hectares of carob trees as part of the first phase of a project of solidarity agriculture which focuses on the introduction and development of crops resilient to climate change. The objective being to diversify production systems in this part of the national territory known for its significant agricultural potential, particularly in terms of cereal growing.

With a total cost of 21.6 MDH, this integrated project concerns the two territorial municipalities Atouabet and Lamaâchat. It concerns, among other things, the development of carob tree cultivation over an area of ​​800 ha, the planting of cactus varieties resistant to carmine cochineal over an area of ​​200 ha.

It also provides for the creation of a rural youth service cooperative for the development of direct sowing of cereals and the establishment of income-generating activities around animal sectors, notably through the development of beekeeping (distribution of 400 bee hives) and the creation of two hydroponic barley production units.

This project benefits more than 850 small farmers, including 250 young people and more than 50 rural women and will ultimately enable the creation of around 100,000 days of work per year.

In a statement to the press on this occasion, Mr. Sadiki indicated that this field visit aims to kick off agricultural projects and projects in the provinces of Youssoufia and Safi, and to stop on other projects included as part of the implementation of the Generation Green Strategy launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2020 and which extends until 2030.

And to continue that these important projects take into account the intrinsic specificities of these two provinces characterized by their dry climate, noting in this sense the existence of agricultural systems, within the framework of the Generation Green Strategy, which are based on crops perfectly adapted to drought and flexible crops including carob, cactus and caper, in addition to forage crops, within the framework of solidarity agriculture intended for small farmers.

These inclusive projects relating to production and valorization concern valorization units and projects with a strong social impact aimed at achieving local economic development, explains the minister, noting that these projects are of interest to agricultural cooperatives active in the field of valorization of agricultural products.

And to conclude by affirming that within the framework of the provincial plans, a budget envelope of around 3 billion DH has been mobilized for the provinces of Youssoufia and Safi over a period of 10 years, including 2 billion DH as a contribution. of State.
