The Moroccan delegation, chaired by Mr. Omar Zniber, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco in Geneva, also includes representatives of the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC) and the Moroccan Office of Copyright and Neighboring Rights (BMDA).

On this occasion, the Director General of OMPIC, Abdelaziz Babqiqi, highlighted the measures and initiatives carried out by Morocco aimed at establishing a strong and inclusive intellectual property system and promoting the emergence of an innovative and competitive economy.

The General Assembly is WIPO’s most important decision-making body. It takes decisions governing the strategy and activities of the Organization.

Some 1,400 delegates from WIPO Member States, including nearly 20 Ministers, the largest number ever, are participating in the WIPO Assemblies (July 9-17). Delegates are reviewing the work of the Secretariat over the past year and will determine future activities in line with WIPO’s strategic direction approved by Member States in 2022.

They also look at the WIPO treaties, which form the backbone of the global intellectual property ecosystem aimed at supporting innovators and creators around the world.

The World Intellectual Property Organization is the United Nations agency ‘serving innovators and creators around the world, ensuring that their ideas reach safely to market and improve lives for everyone, everywhere’.

In addition to technical assistance, it offers services that enable creators, innovators and entrepreneurs to protect and promote their intellectual property across borders. WIPO’s intellectual property data and information guide decision-makers in all countries.
