Genius and the abyss: the case of Hans-Jürgen von Bose

by time news

IIn December of last year, a process came to an end before the Munich I Regional Court that continues to divide the world of music to this day. Hans-Jürgen von Bose, 67, composition professor for 23 years at the Munich Conservatory, was acquitted of the main charge of raping a student’s sister several times.

Bose was only sentenced to six months probation for violating the Narcotics Act. The verdict was met with indignation in public and among the opposition in Bavaria, and the public prosecutor’s office and accessory prosecution immediately announced a revision. The Hans-Jürgen von Bose case is the second of its kind after the two judgments against his friend and long-time boss Siegfried Mauser.
