The geomagnetic activity index, which was almost zero until 3 a.m., increased to 4 points, that is, it approached the indicator corresponding to a magnetic storm, as follows from information from the Laboratory of Solar X-ray Astronomy of the Space Research Institute and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
A previously published forecast suggested that a magnetic storm would begin on Earth from midnight, which would reach the G2 level at its peak.
Another, shorter magnetic storm, according to astrophysicists, will occur on December 2.
