Some people love the sound of waves crashing on the shore. Children will love to run and play with the waves that come and go. They want to walk on the sand on the beach. On the other hand, some people fall in love with the ice and want to play ice skating and snowballing, but would you believe it if you could experience all these things in one place? It may be asked that where there is snow, there is sand and waves. But there really is such a place.
You can see this rare phenomenon at San’s Kaigan Geopark in Japan. The site was declared a Japanese Geopark in 2008 and a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010. Geopark status is only given to a place that has geological formations that are rarely found on Earth.
Stretches from the Kyokamizaki Cape area of Kyoto, Japan to the western Hakuto Kaigan Beach located in Tottori. This geopark contains various geological sites related to the formation of the Sea of Japan. It has geological features like ria beaches, sand dunes, sand dunes, volcanoes, valleys in one place.
Due to this diversity, the Geopark is home to rare plants such as Pseudolysimachyon ornatum, Ranunculus nipponicus, Ciconia poissiana.
It covers three cities and provinces with a population of about 400,000. The region has experienced three major earthquakes, so it also has disaster-related sites. As a result, this place is also working as a disaster education resource. Also, the hot springs located in this area have been meeting the needs of the people of the area for a long time.
