Springer Nearing Return After Concussion

Will the outfielder clear concussion protocols? The outfielder has been cleared to return from a concussion and will begin a rehab stint in triple-A on Thursday. Manager John Schneider told reporters Wednesday.
Springer is expected to serve as the designated hitter for the Buffalo Bisons. He might play one more game in the outfield before rejoining the major league club.

Springer has been sidelined since taking a pitch to the head on July 28. He was back participating in baseball activities with the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Schneider confirmed.
The 35-year-old player was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list on Aug. 1. He was sent to Buffalo for a brief rehab assignment but has not yet cleared return-to-play protocols.
This season, Springer has hit .291/.383/.506 with 18 home runs and 57 RBIs over 101 games, marking a strong resurgence at the plate.
