The Minister of Youth and Sports, Georgi Glushkov, participated in the UNESCO Global Sports Conference “Change the Game” in Paris. The forum was organized as a result of the Seventh International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sports, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June 2023, and in the context of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French capital, announced the press center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The event brought together ministers, sports organisations, high-level athletes, private sector representatives, investors, social entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to discuss the transformative power of sport for sustainable development.

Within the framework of the conference, a ministerial forum was held on the topic “Building a fairer and sustainable sports legacy”. During the discussions, some of the resources of UNESCO’s flagship program in the field of sports “Fit for life” were presented, which aims to promote the development and implementation of inclusive practices, policies and programs for quality physical education and for gender equality in sport.

The event also featured a panel on ensuring a safe and fair sporting environment, during which participants addressed the issue of athlete protection, challenges and regulatory gaps, and discussed opportunities to promote the engagement of Member States and the sporting world in this area. The important role of sports teachers in the fight against racism, discrimination and hate speech was also discussed.
