The Minister of Youth and Sports Georgi Glushkov presented the gold medals to Hungary among the juniors and to the Netherlands among the girls from the European Handball Championship, which was held in Varna. He also awarded the best players Hugo Borja Guerrero Diaz (Spain) and MVP – Nienke Slippens (Netherlands). This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Spain won the silver medals among the juniors, and the bronze went to Germany. For the girls, France is second and Croatia is third.
The coaches of absolutely all prize winners spoke very flatteringly about the organization of the championship.
“I am extremely pleased. First of all, from the presentation of the children. But also from the great organization under the umbrella of the Bulgarian Handball Federation. They did a great job. We knew that after 2021 we could trust them because they are proven good hosts. Varna is a great city with great beaches. It was a great pleasure to meet the sports minister of Bulgaria, Mr. Georgi Glushkov. This is a huge boost for beach handball internationally,” said Gabriela Horvath, Board Member and Chair of the Beach Handball Commission at the European Handball Federation.
After a three-day break from July 11 to 14, a European qualification tournament for men and women will be held on the South Beach in Varna.
