Georgia Defensive Backs Coach Emerges as Top Target for Syracuse Head Coaching Vacancy
Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown has become a leading candidate for the head-coaching position at Syracuse, program sources confirmed on Monday. The New Jersey native has spent the past two seasons on the Bulldogs’ staff and has caught the eye of Syracuse officials as they search for a new leader for their football program.
Brown previously served as Rutgers’ secondary coach from 2020 to 2021, and has also coached at Temple and Baylor. Holy Cross head coach Bob Chesney and Toledo’s Jason Candle have also received strong consideration for the job, according to sources.
Syracuse made the decision to part ways with coach Dino Babers with one game remaining this season, after he spent eight seasons with the Orange and compiled a 41-55 record.
