Brett Seither’s Journey of Resilience Culminates in Final Game at 2025 Pop-tarts Bowl
After a deeply emotional 2024 season marked by both profound loss and remarkable recovery, georgia Tech tight end Brett Seither prepares for a poignant farewell to his collegiate career in front of family and friends at the 2025 Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando.
The images are now packed away, destined for his return to Clearwater, Florida, following the bowl game, before he begins training in Knoxville, tennessee, for the NFL Draft. For the past two years, photographs held a prominent place in Seither’s atlanta apartment, serving as constant reminders of both triumph and tragedy – the catches made, the losses endured, and the enduring gratitude he carries.
Two years ago, assistant coach Nathan Brock gifted his tight ends with framed photos, each personalized to reflect their individual journeys. One side of Seither’s frame captures him securing a touchdown during the Yellow Jackets’ stunning 46-42 upset victory over No. 17 North Carolina at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. The other, initially displaying a picture of Tech Tower, was replaced with a cherished image of him and his mother, beth, celebrating on the field after that same exhilarating win amidst the jubilant field storming.
“Everything you go through kind of makes you stronger. I’m thankful for it. It’s also tough, but it’s life, and you grow from it, and it’s part of it,” Seither reflected.
Georgia Tech provided Seither with both his most memorable moments and unwavering support during his most challenging times. It seems fitting, then, that he will be rewarded with a final game against No. 12 BYU at Camping World Stadium in Orlando – a location just an hour-and-a-half from where his family settled before his junior year of high school.
“you’d think after four years of college that you know everything and you’re ready to go attack the world, and you get here and you realize three years later [that] I didn’t know everything,” Seither admitted, reflecting on his career following Georgia Tech’s initial practice in Orlando. “I’ve come a long way. This university has given me a great possibility to get another degree. I’m super proud of that, thankful for that. It’s given me a lot of lifelong friends here.”
Seither expressed his appreciation for the embrace he’s received from Tech fans, acknowledging his unconventional path to the team. After recording just four receptions across four seasons (including a redshirt year) at Georgia and no statistics in 2022, he made an immediate impact as a Yellow Jacket, scoring a touchdown on his first catch in the 2023 season opener against Louisville at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound tight end quickly became a trusted red-zone target for quarterback Haynes King, with four of his first five catches in 2023 resulting in touchdowns. He became the first Yellow Jacket tight end to record multiple touchdowns in a season since J.P. Foschi in 2003, contributing to Tech’s first bowl win since 2016.
