On the benefits of the provision for parallel employment, which is included in the new labor billsaid the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Adonis Georgiadis, in an interview he gave to the radio station Parapolitika FM.
As he said, anyone who has a second job and pays more contributions will have a higher pension. “The payment of the levy is remunerative in nature. It will not be counted as additional time, in order for the insured person to retire earlier. It will be measured, however, at the level of the pension” explained the responsible minister.
At the same time, Mr. Georgiadis also analyzed the advantages of the second job, pointing out that multiple employers strengthen the bargaining position of the employee. As he explained, “when the worker depends on his life and his salary on an employer, the difference between them is too great. Power difference I mean. However, when the employee has an alternative solution of a second employer and the first employer knows that he has already found a second job, then the difference in power between the two parties is drastically reduced in favor of the employee.”
Also, the Minister of Labor was asked to comment on the opposition’s reactions to the new labor bill, answering as follows: “This bill is nothing more than the recording of reality in a legal text, while half of it is a European directive. How will PASOK or SYRIZA, parties that believe in the country’s European course, vote against it? Since the application is mandatory”.
Among other things, Mr. Georgiadis stated that, according to the data of the “ERGANI” Information System, there is an increase in salaried employment in the private sector over a four-year period (July 2019-July 2023), while a clear trend towards full-time contracts is observed.
