Describing the actor as “the last sacred monster of cinema”, the signatories assert that “when we attack Gérard Depardieu in this way, it is art that we attack”. “To deprive ourselves of this immense actor would be a tragedy, a defeat (…) We cannot and we do not want to do without him,” concludes the text.
