Perspective Writing

Cordón’s work compares to Homer’s famous Odyssey in terms of its exploration of personal and transformative journeys, as well as its use of symbolism and narrative. The artist addresses a wide range of themes, including the historical, the mystical, and love. Cordón clarifies that his work is closer to the historical than the political.

Odysseus uses his cunning and wit to overcome obstacles and ultimately find his way back home, while Cordón uses his skill to weave intricate visual narratives that resonate with audiences. Both employ symbolism to convey deeper meanings and engage their audiences in interpreting their narratives,” Syed said.

The creator notes that his personal journey as an immigrant resonates with the struggles and triumphs faced by other individuals who share similar experiences. In addition, Cordón expresses his emotion and happiness for this exhibition, since it has been a long work process. He has experienced an emotional roller coaster, including sacrifices, cheating and theft of works, among other problems. However, he believes that all these challenges have taught him to seek the support of the right people and gain experience to get to this point in his solo show.

Gerardo Cordón’s “Odysseus 2.0” exhibition promises to captivate visitors with its unique pieces and deep meaning. It is a testament to the artist’s personal journey and his ability to tell stories through his art.
