The Ecology Committee of the Sofia Municipal Council (SOS) did not approve the proposed new measures for the separate collection of waste in Sofia, proposed by the PP-DB-Save Sofia coalition. Emilia Angelova, a municipal councilor in SOS, PP-DB (Save Sofia), commented on the topic in “The Day Begins” on BNT. According to her, GERB and BSP want to stop the progress of Sofia and do not allow anything to change.

“Yesterday, GERB and BSP again showed their economic dependencies. The contracts that are currently being implemented were concluded by the management of GERB, they are, to put it mildly, sparing for companies. They are detrimental to citizens,” she said.

“Yesterday’s vote is neither in favor of the municipality, which will save money if it recycles, nor is it in favor of citizens who want more convenient containers,” added Angelova.

According to her, there is a hidden lobby to recycle and use waste as a resource. She also noted that the transportation, processing and burning of mixed household waste costs the municipality BGN 400 per ton, while recycling costs BGN 0 per ton.
